Deep Dish Dungeon Iron Bar

Running out of an “iron bar” does not by itself mean you need to restart. Check for the item labelled Iron Rod: search the prison’s locks and cell floors, then use a Smelter with Scrap Metal and Coal when you need a replacement supply.

Check the name before spending it

In a shortage discussion, a player calls the piece used for a Nail an iron bar and later refers to it as a rod. The prison pickup in Twilight’s video is explicitly named Iron Rod.

For that shortage, look for Iron Rod rather than waiting for a separate Iron Bar recipe to appear. Read the recipe’s requested item name before using it; a separate officially named Iron Bar is not confirmed here.

If you have run out

Check the prison for loose rods and locks before assuming the run is stuck. A player in the shortage discussion recommends the prison after obtaining the Prison Key; Yamamaru Niki also identifies rods near cells and from locks.

Do not rely on waiting beside an emptied pickup. One player reported that their collected rod had not returned after several hours; no reliable respawn timer is established. Check another pickup or work toward the Smelter instead.

  1. Bring the Prison Key and a Torch to the webbed prison entrance. Use the Torch on the webs and the key on the entrance door.
  2. Search around the cells and interact with their locks. Watch for an Iron Rod inventory notification.
  3. Set aside a rod for the broken prison lever before using the rest on optional crafts.

Make a supply with the Smelter

For a longer-term supply, build a Smelter and put Scrap Metal and Coal into it to produce Iron Rods. The Workbench is a separate station; the shortage discussion directs players to the Smelter for rods.

  1. Get the Pickaxe from the lower prison and use it to break Goo Piles for Clay.
  2. Gather the Smelter construction materials; the October guide lists 5 Clay and 5 Scrap Metal.
  3. Build the Smelter, then add Scrap Metal and Coal to make Iron Rods. A player reports 3 Scrap Metal per rod; check the station for the Coal amount.
  4. Collect the output and reserve the rod needed for your blocked repair before crafting extra equipment.

Avoid another shortage

Save one rod for the broken prison lever and separate that repair supply from optional crafting materials. A Workbench or Cooking Pot can use several rods at once, so inspect the full recipe before confirming a craft.

If you spent your only rod on a Nail, check the other prison pickups before dismantling or restarting anything. A guaranteed refund or dismantling recipe is not established. The Iron Rod guide covers locations and common uses; use your current menu for costs changed by patches.

Questions

Do I need to restart after using my last iron bar?

Try the other prison locks and loose Iron Rod pickups first. A Smelter provides another route once you have a Pickaxe, Clay, Scrap Metal and Coal; running short alone is not proof of a soft lock.

Should I wait for an iron bar to respawn?

There is no confirmed timer to rely on. Search the other prison pickups or make Iron Rods in a Smelter instead.
