Deep Dish Dungeon Golden Chest: Coins, Treasure and the Empty Chest

The large, brightly glowing chest behind the dining hall water statue is the golden chest used to return six gold treasures. It was empty when one player first opened it; that same player later showed the six treasures inside. The observations come from October 2026 player records; the exact game builds are not stated.

Identify the glowing golden chest

The return chest is the large gold chest in the room beyond the dining hall water statue. In PC Game Trace’s own screenshots it glows brightly, is labelled as the golden chest, and appears first with empty slots and later with six gold treasures. Those pictures and the author’s route describe the same return chest.

Do not identify a chest by color alone. DocNovak describes a separate water-statue room in the marble ruins whose drained chest contains the Gold Talisman. That is a pickup location for one of the treasures, not the dining-hall return chest.

Reach the chest with the stone coins

From the main hub, climb the stairs, enter the door at the back left and follow the spiral staircase up to the dining hall.

The Sun and Moon Stone Coins operate the water mechanism; they are not the Gold Coins treasure on the return list. The three dishes for the nearby golden door are a separate puzzle.

  1. Use a Grappling Hook to reach the dining hall’s upper rooms. Take the Sun Stone Coin from the front room on the right and the Moon Stone Coin from the front room on the left.
  2. Go to the water mechanism at the back right of the upper floor and place the two stone coins on its statue. The water drains, allowing access to the room beyond.
  3. Open the large golden chest in that room. An empty inventory at this point matches the first opening documented in the player’s screenshots.

Place the six gold treasures inside

Collect and put Gold Coins, Gold Bracelet, Gold Statue, Gold Amulet, Gold Nugget and Gold Talisman into the golden chest. The order is not specified in the sources.

Yamamaru Niki reports that placing all six does not directly grant an item: it satisfies part of the true-ending requirements. The return chest alone is not the whole ending checklist.

To find the Gold Talisman, DocNovak describes a second water statue reached through the lower of two doors on the right after entering the marble ruins from the main room. The Sun and Moon Stone Coins drain the water there and reveal the Talisman chest.

What to check if the chest is empty

First check that you are in the upper dining-hall room reached through the drained water statue. An initially empty chest matches both PC Game Trace’s documented first opening and a separate player’s report after using the Sun and Moon coins.

The chest is used as a destination for the six gold treasures, so an empty first opening alone does not show that the route failed. Check the item names and move the six treasures into it when you have them. The reports do not establish the cause of every empty chest or whether a different save has a bug.
